【Jidai Matsuri】 Oike-dori Reserved Seats will be on sale from August 29th

To view the Jidai Matsuri Festival comfortably, the reserved seat will be recommended!

Jidai Matsuri Festival is one of the three biggest festivals in Kyoto.
It is a festival of the costume procession from the Meiji era to the Heian period.
About 2,000 people parade the streets of Kyoto dressed in authentic costumes representing various periods and characters in Japanese history.
The 2-kilometer procession starts from Imperial Palace and goes through the streets taking about 2 hours.
For viewing the procession in a relaxed manner, the reserved seats are recommended which will be set at Kyoto Imperial Park, Oike-dori Street or Heian Jingu-michi Street.

Kyoto Imperial Park / Kenreimon departure (12:00) [Kyoto Imperial Park reserved seat] → Sakaimachi Gomon (12:15) → Karasuma Marutamachi (12:30) → Karasuma Oike (12:50) [Oike-dori Street reserved seat] → Kawaramachi Oike (13:20) Sanjo Kawaramachi (13:30) → Sanjo Ohashi (13:40) → Sanjo Jingumichi (14:10) [Heian Jingu-michi Street reserved seat] → Heian Jingu Shrine (14:30)

【In case of rain】
*Due to the rain on the festival day, it will be postponed to the 23rd, following day (it will be decided in the morning).
*When postponed, the ticket can be used on the 23rd (ticket is not refundable).
*Please make your travel schedule beforehand as for the preparation for the festival postponing.
*Ticket's returns and refunds are not accepted.
*The festival will be cancelled in case it rains on the 23rd.
*Only in the case of the event cancellation, we refund the ticket price excluding the delivery charges (JPY 450).

【FAQs】
Q. What time should I arrive at the seat?
A. We recommend that you arrive at the seat 30 minutes before the start or arrival of the parade, because congestion is expected during the festival.

Q. Can we eat at the seat?
A. Yes, you can. Please take all of your trash home with you when you leave.

Q. Is there anything that I have to know?
A. No parasols, no smoking and no flash photography. We hope everyone can enjoy watching the festival.

Q. How long does the festival last?
A. About 2 hours from the head of the parade to the end.

Q. Where should I ask about the festival if weather condition is not good?
A. We will decide the cancellation in the morning on 22nd, or 23rd. You can check Heian jingu Shrine Website or Kyoto City Tourism Association Website.
